Harry Thurston Dec 2020Harry Thurston is an a writer, poet, playwright, editor, educator and naturalist living on a salt marsh in Nova Scotia.  He is one of Canada’s and the Atlantic Provinces’ foremost contributors to the body of literature on environmental issues.

His award-winning book, Tidal Life: A Natural History of the Bay of Fundy, 1990, opened the eyes of the public, academia and governments to the richness and science of the Bay of Fundy and, according to Maine’s Island Journal, is “destined to become a natural history classic.”  The Atlantic Coast: A Natural History, published in 2011 by the David Suzuki Foundation and Greystone Books, was awarded the Lane Anderson Award for Science Writing in Canada, the City of Dartmouth Book Award and the Evelyn Richardson Award for Non-Fiction.

His poetry, plays and journalism have likewise received awards as well as national and international attention.
